Description: Commonly called Beard-tongue, penstemon is a great perennial for hot and dry areas. Blackbeard's rich purple foliage and clusters of light purple flowers make it a great addition to an area with short perennials, such as Artemisia or Sedum Reflexum. Flowers bloom early to late Summer, with burgundy seed pods after flowering. Attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies.
