Latin Name: Monarda punctata
Description: Commonly known as Spotted Bee Balm, this short-lived, native perennial (or biennial) boasts gorgeous upright clusters of creamy, lance-shaped lavender bracts which appear as an umbrella over smaller, tubular lavender purple flowers adorned with dark purple polka dots. They bloom for weeks from early to midsummer, attracting scores of beneficial pollinators to your sunny gardens. The flowers appear over deep forest-green, lance-shaped, finely toothed aromatic foliage which some like to use as flavour in teas. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage a second round of blooms.
