DIGITALIS DALMATIAN PURPLE
Latin Name: Digitalis purpurea 'Dalmatian Purple'
Description: A variety of Common Foxglove, this popular biennial showcases upright spires of downward facing, purple, tubular flowers with eye-catching maroon speckled throats. They bloom profusely from early to mid-summer, starting from the bottom of the terminal spires and slowly working their way up, making for a long-lived display on each stem. The blooms form over a low mound of broad, spear-like foliage with prominent veins and blunt teeth along the edges. The blooms not only attract onlookers, but are attractive to hummingbirds and other pollinators as well. Noted for its excellent habit and striking blooms, Foxglove is sure to be a garden favourite for years to come.
Do note that the plant is highly toxic when ingested. Wear gloves and wash your hands after handling.
