BERGENIA PURPURASCENS
Latin Name: Bergenia Purpurascens'
Description: Commonly known as Purpleleaf Bergenia, this clump forming perennial boasts erect clumps of dark pink, downward-facing bell flowers with light-green middles surrounded by a delicate ring of white stamens. They rise atop thick, red, sturdy stems from early to late in the spring season, and often once again in the fall. Beneath the showy blooms lies a bed of large, shiny, lily-pad-like leaves, which turn a lovely reddish-bronze colour in the fall and winter.
