SYMPHYOTRICHUM BLUEBIRD

$19.99

Latin Name: Symphyotrichum laeve 'Bluebird'

Description: Commonly known as a Smooth Aster, this captivating native specimen showcases a profusion of striking electric lavender-blue daisy-like flowers with numerous elongated, elliptical petals and neon-yellow, button middles. The playful blossoms dangle over smooth, lance-shaped, blue-green foliage, which adds lovely texture to the plant even when not in bloom. This late-bloomer begins to flower in the late summer and continues until the first frost, providing essential native pollen to our pollinators late in the season.

Some resistance to deer and rabbits, though not completely immune to damage. Thrives best in well-draining, somewhat fertile soils. Regular moisture is crucial, especially during heat waves/dry spells. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage a secondary round of blooms and to keep a neat habit. Fertilize in spring.
