Latin Name: Asclepias incarnata 'Ice Ballet'
Description: Commonly known as Swamp Milkweed, this long-blooming perennial is virtually hassle free, offering a show of vanilla-scented, clustered tiny white flowers from mid-summer through late into the growing season. The flowers are heavily clad with pollen and nectar, making them very attractive to pollinators, including butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. The long, sturdy stems are perfect for cut flowers, and are covered in long, narrow, medium-green leaves. Following the flowering period, typical milkweed seed pods develop which eventually burst open to reveal silvery-white, silk-like hairs. Great in dried flower arrangements, and an important food source for Monarch butterflies.
