Latin Name: Miscanthus sinensis 'Purpurascens'
Description: This perennial is also known as Purple Flame Grass and it lives up to its name. Flame grass becomes almost unrecognizable in the Fall, with its light green leaves taking on brilliant shades of red, orange and purple. The feathery panicles emerge red, and turn creamy white in the Fall. New growth can be expected with warm temperatures early-to-mid Summer.
Potentially Invasive: Miscanthus cultivars are reputably sterile, but two cultivars can occasionally cross-pollinate and produce viable seeds. Recommended to plant only one cultivar.
